Students at St. John's school did a great job for their bark painting session. They were taught the meanings of the symbols and patterns used in Aboriginal art. They were presented with some craft ideas and chose a piece of paper bark each. They then came up with their own design for their painting. They painted a background on their canvas, then added the piece of paper bark and painted their design. They were very happy with the end result. It was a great way introduce the children to Aboriginal Culture education
Students at St John's school enjoyed this session of creating a picture using Aboriginal art patterns and symbols. Some chose an outline of an Australian animal or bird which they pasted onto a piece of black paper. They then used white and coloured pencils to colour in the animal and draw some patterns and symbols around the picture. They really enjoyed creating their art work.
